Zach Gordon is known for his ceramic fountains and sculptures, mashups of natural forms and pop culture references. Zach earned an MFA in ceramics from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey. His thesis topic was fountains as a story telling medium; and for his graduation show, he created thirteen ceramic fountains and wrote an original story to guide viewers through the world he imagined. His recent one-person show at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, Ant-asm, featured a mixture of ceramic fountains, wall pieces, sculpture, hundreds of ceramics ants, and digital prints. He currently teaches raku, sculpture, ceramic fountain design, 3d design, and basic design courses for the City of Tucson, Pima Community College, Cochise College, and Romero House Pottery Studio in Tucson, AZ. He also taught ceramics at the University of Arizona. He has studied and exhibited works in Japan, Turkey, and the United States and was a Fulbright scholar in Turkey. Zach draws inspiration from nature and the work of Ray Harryhausen, William Castle, Paul Reubens, and Don Cascarelli.
